-
Avoid dark or humid spots
inside the house.
-
Keep pets protected all year
long by bathing them and carrying out fumigations.
-
Visit the vet periodically.
-
Keep their home clean and free
from rotting organic material
-
Prevent your pet from getting
in contact with street animals, because diseases are
transmitted by direct contact with infested animals.
-
Disinfect inert materials such
as beds, covers, clothes, and places where your pet stays.
-
Your pet should be well-fed in
order to have a better immunity reaction.
-
In order to get rid of
ectoparasites, it is important to fumigate the pet's
environment. This is due to the fact that there are some
parasites that lay their eggs in other places besides the
host.
-
Felines are more sensitive in
relation to some products used for external baths. Ask your
vet.

COWS
- HORSES
-
The transmission of diseases
is mainly determined by the presence of vector insects. That
is why it is necessary to control and put in quarantine any
animals that are to be introduced in a new cattle herd for
the first time.
-
You must be careful not to
transmit any diseases by using instruments such as needles,
harnesses, surgical instruments and the like. That is why
such instruments must be disinfected after use.
-
Ectoparasite-caused diseases
have great economic impact since they cause a decrease in
milk and meat production and they also affect reproduction
functions.

FOWL
Scientists study feathers to decide whether an animal is a
bird or not. Nowadays we have flying birds and non-flying
birds.
Sources of Disease
-
Humans may be important
sources of disease transmission.
-
Other birds brought to the
farm may carry infectious diseases. Wild birds may transmit
diseases to commercial birds. Some diseases such as
salmonella and coliformes may be mother-to-offspring
transmitted through eggs.
-
Bad hygiene may also produce
health problems. Once the place is contaminated, any
residuals from birds previously infected may become a
recurrent problem.
Disease Prevention
Clean and disinfect the facilities in the following manner:
" Get all the birds out of the quarters. Clean away all food
leftovers and get all the mobile equipment out.
" Clean the roof and walls with water by using a hose before
taking the bed out. Get the bed as far away as possible.
" Clean the pieces of equipment and all the things that you will
use again and make any necessary repairs.
" Wash the quarters thoroughly with a high pressure machine in
order to eliminate am manure deposits.
" Disinfect with some water soluble substance, such as
quaternary ammonium, phenol, ionosphoros, or chloride.
" Use a poultry use approved insecticide. It is better to do so
15 days before taking the animals into the quarters.
" Replace the bed and return the equipment.
" Close quarters and let them empty for two to four weeks.
